Professional staff position overseeing inventory, Geographic Information Systems, property disposition, easements, and licenses in support of forest management of the commercial forestland operated by a long-term forest products company with lands in Plumas and Tehama counties, California. The position requires significant experience, comprehensive technical forestry skills and knowledge about mensuration, growth and yield modeling, forest management, logging, silviculture, and timber harvest planning. Must be capable of safely conducting field-based forestry work in all conditions of the northern Sierra & southern Cascade mountains and must become familiar with and capable of implementing emerging technologies. Must become California Registered Professional Forester (RPF) within 1 year.

Minimum qualifications:

At least 3 years of field-based forestry operations experience. Bachelors’ degree or the equivalent experience in forestry, biology, forest engineering, natural resource management, economics, business, plant biology, plant genetics, or agriculture sciences. Expert-level computer skills, including the suite of applications in Microsoft Office and ARC-GIS applications supported through ESRI; exceptional curiosity and willingness to learn; demonstrated leadership and supervisory skills; demonstrated collaborative problem-solving skills; must be comfortable with change management. Must be able to perform rigorous, field-based work in all weather conditions, on steep, brush-filled terrain.
