Forest Conservation Days (FCD) 2022 – Volunteers Needed – Sign Up Now!
September 26, 2022 - September 30, 2022
Volunteer sign-ups needed by September 10th!
From Kent Kinney, FCD Coordinator: Fresno Unified School District has filled our FCD registration to capacity and I am now sending notices to many additional schools and districts that we will not be able to serve, including 900 more students from Sanger Unified. I am hopeful we will be ready and able to host just over 200 students each day of the event. Cal SAF needs your help with this. Volunteers make the event possible!
This is a long-standing Cal SAF educational program that provides forestry education for 5th-grade students. It will be held again at the YMCA Camp at Sequoia Lake
Put this on your calendar now and sign up as a volunteer using the linked volunteer form (see below).
Trail walks and educational exhibits will be staffed by natural resources professionals, agency personnel, college teachers and students from Reedley and Bakersfield Colleges’ forestry programs.
Your expertise is needed to explain the benefits of forest management and oversee the event as a California Society of American Foresters activity. Lodging and food will be provided for lunch Monday through Friday and dinner Monday through Thursday. Please indicate on the form
your areas of expertise and if you plan to stay overnight, dietary needs, etc. If camping, you can arrive on Sunday, the 25th.
A note from Kent: We will have lodging and meals available, and the camp is within one mile of the Grant Grove of giant sequoia trees. There also will be RV spaces available (electric and water connection for RVs and dump station onsite). It will be most helpful to have volunteers arrive on Sunday, September 25 to set up and participate in the organization of the event.
Return the volunteer form to Kent Kinney at firstname.lastname@example.org.
