With all the bark beetles, dead trees, and fires we see in the field these days, it’s time to revisit a couple of the topics that may have inspired some of us to pursue natural resources careers in the first place: Recreation and Water!

What better place to visit then the Eastern Sierra in mid-summer? Come up and see how Mammoth Lakes has changed from a seasonal winter sport and summer fishing mecca to a year-round recreation destination.

With all the snow this year – most of California’s major reservoirs are nearly full. But the next drought will be here before long – how have we become more resilient to endure our next boom-bust cycle?
