CALIFORNIA SOCIETY OF AMERICAN FORESTERS

California Society of American Foresters (CalSAF) engages foresters and natural resource professionals throughout the state. Our chapter is active through hosting chapter meetings, field tours, position statements on current forest policy, state newsletter and social media. Supporting CalSAF provides more opportunities for outreach, education and collaboration. Please consider a donation to the CalSAF and support forestry in California.

FOREST INSTITUTE FOR TEACHERS

The Forestry Institute for Teachers (FIT) is an immersive week-long professional learning program that provides forestry education to California’s Prek-12 educators. At FIT, cohorts of educators work alongside natural resource professionals and credentialed instructors to explore the complexities of stewarding our forest ecosystems for current and future generations. Educators ultimately leave FIT empowered to share their learning in ways that enhance and support their current teaching practice. Your generous donation helps FIT reduce the financial burden of attendance for 120+ educators annually by helping to cover the cost of food, lodging, materials, and stipends for attendees.

FOREST CONSERVATION DAYS

The aim of Forest Conservation Days is to reach students early on and educate them with hands- on forestry experience to bring them closer to the forest and show them what it can offer. With a goal of providing exhibits and an interpretative guided trail hike each day and covering subjects of ecology, geology, archeology, history, sociology; the program hopes to provide students with a beneficial knowledge of the forest, what role they may play in helping the forest, and how with some great work people can keep the forest happy and healthy. This past year, FCD offered forestry education to just over 1,200 4th and 5th grade students from schools in underserved communities within the Fresno Unified School District. The program relies on volunteers and funding provided through grants and donations. Please help this wonderful educational program in any way possible.
