Big Chico Creek Forest Management Plan and CEQA Compliance; Request for Proposals:
The Butte County Fire Safe Council (BCFSC) is seeking a Registered Professional Forester to develop a Forest Health Management Plan and CEQA document for mixed coniferous forest within the Big Chico Creek Watershed. The Management Plan will include a total of 7,939 acres, with completion of CEQA required on 1,500 of those acres. This landscape-scale project is being implemented within Butte County in proximity to the City of Chico and the community of Forest Ranch.
The purpose of the project is to:
1.) Protect water quality and improve water quantity
2.) Prevent catastrophic wildfire
3.) Restore forest ecosystems by reducing (currently overstocked) stand density via the forest thinning and the application of prescribed fire.
4.) Reduce greenhouse gas emissions/ improve air quality, and promote long-term carbon sequestration and storage.
