Markit! Forestry Management is building out an office in the Sacramento area which will be responsible for forestry management in Northern California and Western Nevada. In this position you will be a member of Markit! Forestry’s team in this region; you will be working to bid forestry projects, develop existing and new lines of business, hire and manage foremen, operators and staff, build vendor relationships, and oversee fleet management.

Location: Headquartered in Sacramento, California; projects may be located throughout the states of California and Nevada, primarily focusing on Northern California and Western Nevada.

Travel: 50% – 70%


  • Develop Markit! Forestry’s business in the states of California and Nevada
  • Develop new customer relationships and assist in promoting Markit! Forestry’s services to key contacts in the region
  • Identify and bid forestry projects (position will receive assistance in the bidding process)
  • Identify, acquire and train competent forestry foremen and equipment operators
  • Project Management of all active Markit! Forestry projects
  • Supervise or coordinate the activities of workers engaged in forestry operations
  • Identify office (and potentially shop and yard) space for the Sacramento office
  • Coordinate and oversee equipment repair and maintenance
  • Develop vendor relationships to provide parts inventory, maintenance/repair services on heavy forestry equipment and trucks, and fuel and other project support needs
  • Attend relevant conferences and workshops


  • Knowledge and understanding of the forestry industry in the California and Nevada regions, with a particular focus on Northern California and Western Nevada
  • Ability to read and understand forestry prescriptions
  • Have a working knowledge of forestry equipment production rates in multiple environments
  • Excellent organizational and motivational skills
  • Outstanding attention to detail
  • Exceptional communication and interpersonal ability
  • High proficiency in Microsoft Excel and Word and Adobe Acrobat
  • Strong customer service orientation
  • Advanced knowledge of office machinery and cellular devices including computer, copier, tablet and cell phone
  • Possess a valid driver’s license or ability to acquire one upon employment

Preferred Background & Experience:

  • Regional forestry experience required
  • Sales, estimating and bidding experience strongly preferred
  • Contract writing experience preferred
